A new burger restaurant named Marty’s is preparing to open in Liverpool's Baltic Triangle, launched by childhood best friends Sham Saleh and Moss Martin. New Dining Destination for the Baltic Triangle
Marty’s is nearing its official launch in one of Liverpool's most vibrant districts. Situated opposite BOXPARK and the Cains Brewery Village, the restaurant has been undergoing renovation for several months, building anticipation since first announcing its arrival in March.
The co-founders, Sham Saleh and Moss Martin, confirmed that the wait for customers is nearly over. While an exact date has not been announced, the opening is expected to take place in early October 2025.
"We’re currently in trials at our Upper Parliament Street site," Sham Saleh explained. "While the exact opening date remains under wraps, it won’t be long before Liverpool gets its first taste."
A Lifelong Friendship
Sham Saleh and Moss Martin, both 31, have been friends since childhood. The pair grew up on the same street in Old Swan, attended the same nursery and school, and later went to university together. Their shared history forms the foundation of their new business venture.
An Idea Born in New York City
The inspiration for Marty’s came during a trip to New York. The friends found themselves eating a smash burger on the Brooklyn Bridge late at night, an experience that left a lasting impression.
"It wasn’t just the food, it was the flavour, the craft, the experience. From that moment, we made a promise to bring that same standard home to Liverpool," said Saleh.
This commitment to quality has guided every decision in creating their restaurant. The co-founders expressed their pride in launching their first venture in their hometown.
"We couldn’t imagine launching Marty’s anywhere else," Saleh added. "Liverpool is our home, it’s a city with energy, character, and people who love good food. To bring something world-class here first feels special, and we can’t wait to share it with everyone."
Focus on Premium Ingredients
Marty's aims to set a high standard for burgers in the city by focusing on premium, carefully sourced ingredients. The owners have detailed the specific components that they believe will distinguish their menu from competitors.
Signature Beef and Chicken
The restaurant's core offerings are built around two key products. Their beef burgers use 100% grass-fed Black Angus beef, selected for its flavour and texture. In addition, they are introducing a product they claim is unique in the UK market.
"And then there’s our chicken smash, something nobody else in the UK is offering," Saleh stated. "Chicken smashes are notoriously hard to perfect because they dry out, but ours uses prime organic, Soil Association certified cuts, seared to a golden crust while staying tender and juicy. It’s a new standard for chicken, and it’s only at Marty’s."
Menu Highlights at Marty's
- Beef Smash Burger: Made with 100% grass-fed Black Angus beef.
- Chicken Smash: A unique offering made with organic, Soil Association certified chicken.
- Buns: Specially selected potato buns.
- Signature Sauce: A house-made 'fire dip' will be available.
The founders emphasize that every detail has been considered, from the buns to the sauces. "This isn’t just another burger brand - Marty’s is the home of the SmashBurger in Liverpool," Saleh declared.
Parliament Street Sees Further Growth
The opening of Marty’s is part of a broader commercial expansion on Parliament Street. Just a few doors away, an Asda Express convenience store is also preparing to open, occupying a 4,000-square-foot unit within the Parliament Square residential development.
Signage for the new supermarket recently appeared, confirming its imminent arrival. The store is one of 20 new Asda Express locations planned to open across the country, with openings scheduled from early October onwards.
According to Asda, the Liverpool site is on track to be operational by the end of 2025. This influx of new businesses highlights the ongoing development and investment in the Baltic Triangle area, adding new retail and dining options for local residents and visitors.
